Evaluation Q2 - Script

This is the full script of Question 2 that is in the Prezi:
As well as our main product; the short film, we chose to create a film poster and a magazine review. The convergence of all 3 products has been achieved through placing the conventions of melodrama into all of our products. We achieved this in different ways according to each product we created.

Film Poster- We did not use images from the film in this product however we have stuck with the main concept; A guide dog with Jessie in the dog’s eye in order to allow the audience to easily identify and relate to the narrative of our short film. By relating the poster to the narrative of our film we were able to represent the feelings of the genre to the audience by arranging the images into an effective arrangement. By placing Jessie in the guide dogs eye we were able to connote the emotion of Jessie’s reliance on her guide dog enabling the products we created to converge effectively. We used a standard font on the poster in order to match the codes and conventions of film posters we initially researched, making it an effective and recognisable product overall for the audience to see.

Magazine Review- The purpose of a film review is to give an overall assessment of the film’s quality, helping the audience decide whether or not they want to see the film. By relating the film review to the genre we were able to converge the products and give a clear and accurate opinion of our short film throughout the review. We decided to create our own magazine and so this meant creating a new layout, font style, colour scheme as opposed to following an existing layout from a magazine, this enabled us to present the review in a way that would complement our short film. When creating the magazine review we decided to use photos from the film itself that the audience would recognise and therefore be able to relate the review to the film. These images taken from the film therefore directly follow the film genre and form an overall representation of the film. We used light-hearted, emotive language in order to draw a link to the products through the moods and emotions we portrayed which was inspired by our genre. By using emotive language, we were able to relate the film review to the narrative of our short film and as a result we were able to create a positive recommendation of the short film to the audience.
