2nd Cut of Short Film (Almost Finalised)

Earlier today we finally finished the filming for our short film; relieved and overwhelmingly happy is an understatement!! However, we did not leave ourselves a lot of time to edit and were unfortunately rushed to do so meaning that we have left a few things needing to be tweaked slightly. This is not a problem as we will be in school during the Easter holidays and will be able to use the editing software then.

Some of the things we need to change include:
  • The credits
  • Parts of the volume nearer the end
  • The text
We are aware of the few mistakes but we are so excited to share this with you after so much hard work so we hope you like it!

P.S. Please leave your feedback on the opinion polls on the sidebar of my blog on what you think of our short film and film poster, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Final Filming and Editing!

We will be finishing our filming tonight and completing our final edits, meaning OUR FINAL FILM WILL BE UPLOADED TONIGHT HOPEFULLY!!

We've had a lot of difficulties along the way from struggling to get our actors together (due to everyone's busy schedule and deadlines) to being unable to use an official guide dog after months of communication, but we're finally there.

We are buzzing about it and can't wait to show you the final edit of all our hard work!!

Guide Dog Actor

We have been unable to use an official Guide Dog due to legal reasons and have therefore had to look elsewhere for a dog to act in our film. Luckily one of our friends, whose Mum owns a rescue dog shelter, has offered to let us use her dog Saffy in the film and we are very grateful for it.

We will be finishing our filming very soon!!

Final Draft - Film Poster

This is the final version of out film poster. We have taken audience feedback into account and have further asked for a received audience feedback which will be posted soon. We are very pleased with our final piece and feel that we have met the essential criteria.

Today's Lesson - 17/03/16

In today's lesson, Lauren and I have been planning our evaluation and also when we are going to film the final scenes of our film.

After receiving brilliant feedback yesterday for our short film so far, we have arranged to finish our filming hopefully by the end of next Tuesday. We are feeling very confident about our film, due to the feedback we have been given and how unique our storyline is.

We have also made some amendments to our film poster which I will post up in a separate post.

We will now begin our evaluation and finalising our media course.

Voiceovers

Our initial planning included voiceovers within our short film. After editing together our footage we have taken so far we have come to the conclusion that we are not going to add in any voiceovers to our final product. We feel we have made an effective short film and that using a voiceover as well as other non diegetic and diegetic sound elements in our film it will become too cluttered and will not be as effective as we would like our short film to be.

1st Cut of Short Film (filming not finished)

In today's lesson Lauren and I continued to edit our footage and are very pleased with our film so far. Unfortunately we have experienced difficulties with using the editing programme we are required to as it has made our film very pixelated and blurry. We are in the progress of fixing this issue and are in contact with Guide Dogs UK in order to film the last parts of our film.

Editing II

Lauren and I began to add sound to our film today and have found a website which offers royalty-free music. We will give them credit for their music in the final credits of our film.

We will use dull, sad toned music throughout most of our film, which will gradually get happier and happier as time goes on, supporting the mood of the characters.

We have gone against the 'norm' by featuring music throughout but we feel that this is effective to our piece as it aids the mood of the film.

Editing

After a long awaited successful weekend of filming, Lauren and I have been editing the footage together that we were able to shoot over the weekend.

We will add credits at a later stage and may also need to add some voice-overs.
